MARLISA – TERMS & CONDITIONS

Last updated: 7 November 2026

MARLISA is operated by CARERS COMPANION LTD.

Welcome to MARLISA. These Terms & Conditions explain the rules and responsibilities associated with accessing and using our website, mobile application and related services.

Please read these Terms carefully before using MARLISA.

By creating an account or using the application, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, you should not use the service.

Nothing in these Terms removes or limits your statutory consumer rights.

1. About MARLISA

MARLISA is a digital care organisation application developed to support unpaid family carers and people involved in providing everyday care.

MARLISA helps users organise daily care information, record activities, manage appointments, maintain care records and share relevant information with authorised family members.

MARLISA is designed to support everyday care organisation. It does not replace professional healthcare, clinical assessment or emergency services.

3. Purpose of the Service

MARLISA provides tools to help carers organise and record everyday care.

Features may include daily care logging, medication information, appointment management, wellbeing records, mobility and positioning records, reminders, family sharing and downloadable care summaries.

Information entered into MARLISA is provided by its users and must not be treated as independently verified clinical information.

4. Eligibility to Use MARLISA

Users must satisfy the eligibility requirements presented during registration.

Users must provide accurate information and use MARLISA only for lawful purposes.

Where a user creates a care profile for another person, they must have an appropriate basis for providing and managing that person's information.

Additional safeguards may apply where information concerns children or adults who require additional protection.

5. Account Registration and Security

Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials and protecting access to their accounts.

Users must not share passwords or allow unauthorised individuals to access private care information.

MARLISA may require email verification or other security measures.

Any suspected unauthorised access should be reported promptly to Carers Companion Ltd.

6. Creating Care Profiles

MARLISA allows users to create profiles for individuals receiving care.

Users must ensure they are appropriately authorised or otherwise legally permitted to provide the information they record.

Being related to someone does not automatically grant unrestricted permission to disclose their personal or health information.

Users should respect the individual's privacy, dignity, preferences and wishes wherever possible.

7. Accuracy of Care Information

Information entered into MARLISA is the responsibility of the user recording it.

Users should take reasonable care to ensure that records are accurate, relevant and kept up to date.

MARLISA does not independently verify care activities, medication administration, observations or information supplied by users.

Important care decisions should always be checked against appropriate professional guidance and individual care plans.

8. Medication Information

MARLISA allows users to record medication routines and related information for organisational purposes.

MARLISA does not prescribe medication, recommend doses, verify drug interactions or confirm that medication has been administered correctly.

Users must follow instructions provided by relevant healthcare professionals, pharmacists and prescribed medication labels.

Medication reminders must not be relied upon as the sole means of ensuring medication is administered safely.

9. Appointment Management

MARLISA may allow users to record, organise and receive reminders about appointments.

Where appointment information is entered manually or imported using an appointment-scanning feature, users are responsible for checking its accuracy.

MARLISA does not book, confirm, cancel or rearrange healthcare appointments on behalf of users unless a specific feature expressly provides that service.

Users should verify appointments directly with the relevant organisation where necessary.

10. Reminders and Notifications

MARLISA may provide reminders relating to appointments, medication and other care activities.

Notification delivery can be affected by device settings, internet connectivity, permissions, operating-system restrictions and service availability.

We cannot guarantee that every reminder will be delivered or received at the intended time.

Users should maintain appropriate alternative arrangements for essential or time-sensitive care.

11. Mobility, Positioning and Pressure Care

MARLISA may provide organisational tools for recording mobility, repositioning and pressure-care activities.

These features support care documentation and routine management.

They do not assess clinical risk, prescribe repositioning intervals or replace individual care plans and professional pressure-care guidance.

Users remain responsible for following appropriate care instructions.

12. Health Insights and Alerts

MARLISA may present summaries, trends, observations and prompts based on information entered by users.

These features are intended to assist with care organisation and awareness.

They do not provide medical diagnoses, clinical predictions or emergency monitoring.

Users should seek appropriate professional medical advice whenever they have concerns about a person's health or wellbeing.

13. Hospital Passports and Reports

MARLISA may allow users to generate downloadable care summaries, reports and Hospital Passports.

These documents are based on information entered into the application and are not independently verified medical records.

Users should review documents for accuracy before printing, downloading, emailing or sharing them.

Once information is shared outside MARLISA, recipients may handle that information independently.

14. Family Sharing

MARLISA may allow authorised family members and carers to access and contribute to shared care information.

Access is controlled through available invitation, verification and permission features.

Users must only invite individuals who have a genuine and appropriate reason to access the relevant information.

Care-profile owners may manage or revoke access in accordance with the application's available controls.

Family members must respect the confidentiality of shared care information.

15. Subscriptions and Pricing

MARLISA offers subscription-based access to certain features.

Current advertised UK monthly subscription plans are:

Single User Plan: £6.99 per month

Family Plan: £9.99 per month, allowing up to five family users in total.

The features, price, billing arrangements and subscription conditions applicable to a purchase are displayed before confirmation through the relevant application store.

Prices may vary by country or where required by applicable taxes.

Additional subscription options may be introduced in the future, subject to appropriate notice and clear pricing information.

16. Seven-Day Free Trial

Eligible new subscribers may be offered a seven-day free trial.

Free trial eligibility and availability are determined through the relevant application store and displayed during the subscription process.

Unless cancelled before the trial ends, an eligible trial subscription will normally convert into a paid subscription at the price disclosed during registration.

Users should review the relevant store's trial and cancellation information before subscribing.

17. Automatic Renewal and Billing

Paid subscriptions are generally billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled in accordance with the applicable store's arrangements.

The subscription price, billing interval, renewal information and any applicable trial terms will be displayed before purchase.

Users are responsible for reviewing their subscription details and managing their billing arrangements.

We will comply with applicable legal requirements concerning subscription information, renewals and changes to paid services.

18. Managing and Cancelling Subscriptions

Users can manage or cancel subscriptions through the relevant Apple or Google subscription management service.

MARLISA may provide a Manage / Cancel Subscription link to help users access the appropriate store settings.

Selecting this link does not itself cancel a subscription.

Uninstalling MARLISA or deleting an account does not automatically cancel an active subscription.
Users who experience difficulties may contact Carers Companion Ltd for guidance.

19. Refunds and Consumer Rights

Purchases made through Apple or Google are subject to the applicable store's purchase and refund arrangements, together with relevant consumer protection legislation.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes statutory rights, including rights concerning digital services, cancellation, refunds and remedies where applicable.

Where a refund or statutory remedy is due, the relevant legal requirements will apply.

20. Council and Organisation-Funded Access

MARLISA may be made available through funding arrangements with local authorities, councils, charities or other organisations.

Eligible users receiving funded access may use the application without paying for an individual subscription during their authorised access period.

Funded access may be subject to separate agreements concerning eligibility, duration, renewal and available features.

An organisation funding access does not automatically receive permission to view private care records belonging to individual users or family groups.

The end of a funded-access arrangement does not automatically create a paid personal subscription.

21. Privacy and Data Protection

Carers Companion Ltd is committed to protecting personal information in accordance with applicable data protection legislation.

Our Privacy Policy explains the information processed through MARLISA, how information may be used, family-sharing arrangements, retention, security and individual rights.

Care-related information may include sensitive personal data about individuals other than the account holder.

Such information must only be recorded and processed where appropriate legal conditions are met.
For more information, please read our Privacy Policy.

22. Acceptable Use

Users must use MARLISA responsibly and lawfully.

Users must not:

  • Attempt to access another person's account or care records without authorisation.

  • Provide deliberately false or misleading information.

  • Upload unlawful, abusive or malicious material.

  • Misuse family invitations or access permissions.

  • Interfere with the security or operation of MARLISA.

  • Use MARLISA for purposes outside its intended care organisation functions.

We may take proportionate action where necessary to protect users, personal information or the service.

23. Intellectual Property and User Content

The MARLISA name, branding, application design, software, website materials and original content are owned by or licensed to Carers Companion Ltd, unless otherwise stated.

Users may not reproduce, distribute or commercially exploit protected content without appropriate permission.

Users retain any rights they hold in information they submit.

By providing information to MARLISA, users grant the permissions reasonably necessary for the service to store, process, display and share that information in accordance with their chosen features and applicable law.

24. Service Availability and Technical Limitations

We aim to provide a reliable and secure service but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access.

Availability may be affected by maintenance, technical faults, network interruptions, third-party services or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

We may make reasonable changes to improve functionality, security, accessibility and legal compliance.

MARLISA is not an emergency service and must not be relied upon as the sole means of managing essential care.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.

25. Changes to the Service and These Terms

We may update MARLISA or these Terms & Conditions to reflect legal requirements, security improvements, new functionality or changes to the way our services operate.

The most recent version will always be available on our website.

Where a change materially affects users' rights or an existing paid subscription, we will provide appropriate notice where required.

We may suspend or restrict access where reasonably necessary to prevent serious misuse, protect personal information or comply with legal obligations.

Users may request account deletion in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Account Deletion procedures.

26. International Users

MARLISA may be made available to users outside the United Kingdom.

Users are responsible for complying with laws applicable to them in their country.

If you are a consumer living outside the United Kingdom, nothing in these Terms removes any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you under the law of your country.

27. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer, you may also benefit from mandatory rights and protections provided by the law of the country in which you live.

Nothing in this section prevents you from relying on those rights where they apply.
