MARLISA – The care you give. All in one place.

MARLISA is a digital care organisation and support application developed and operated by Carers Companion Ltd.

MARLISA is designed to support unpaid carers, families and individuals involved in providing day-to-day care. It provides practical tools to help organise care information, record daily activities, manage reminders and share relevant information with family members and healthcare professionals.

MARLISA does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment or emergency medical assistance.

By using MARLISA, you acknowledge the important limitations explained in this Medical Disclaimer.

1. Purpose of MARLISA

MARLISA is intended to make everyday caring responsibilities easier to organise and manage.

Its features may include:

  • Daily care recording, including nutrition, hydration, medication routines, sleep, mobility, mood, personal care and toileting.

  • Appointment organisation and reminders.

  • Positioning and pressure care activity records and reminders.

  • Recording observations about changes in a person's usual wellbeing, including urinary changes.

  • Family sharing and communication tools.

  • Care history, summaries and downloadable reports for sharing with healthcare professionals.

  • General information and signposting to relevant support services.

These functions are provided for general care organisation, record-keeping and communication purposes.

MARLISA is not intended to diagnose, prevent, predict, monitor or treat medical conditions, or to make clinical decisions on behalf of users or healthcare professionals.

2. Not a Substitute for Professional Medical Advice

MARLISA is not a healthcare provider, clinical consultation service or emergency medical service.

Information entered, displayed, summarised or suggested within MARLISA must not replace advice, assessment or instructions from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

Always seek professional advice regarding concerns about symptoms, medication, nutrition, hydration, mobility, behaviour, pressure care or any other aspect of a person's health.

Never ignore professional medical advice, change prescribed treatment or delay seeking medical assistance because of information provided through MARLISA.

3. Medical Emergencies and Urgent Assistance

MARLISA must never be used as an alternative to emergency medical assistance.

If someone is seriously unwell, in immediate danger or experiencing a medical emergency in the UK, call 999 or 112.

For urgent medical advice where the situation is not immediately life-threatening, contact NHS 111 or an appropriate healthcare professional.

Users outside the UK should contact their local emergency or urgent healthcare services.

MARLISA does not continuously monitor a person's condition, detect medical emergencies or automatically contact emergency services.

4. Daily Care Records and Health Information

MARLISA allows users to record and organise information about day-to-day care activities.

All records depend on the information entered by users. Carers Companion Ltd cannot guarantee that information is complete, accurate, current or suitable for making healthcare decisions.

Records, summaries and downloadable reports, including information prepared for hospital appointments or admissions, are intended to support communication.

They do not replace professional clinical records, assessments, care plans or medication administration records.

Healthcare professionals should independently assess information before relying on it for clinical decisions.

5. Medication Records and Reminders

MARLISA may provide tools for recording medication routines and setting reminders.

MARLISA does not prescribe medicines, calculate doses or provide personalised advice about starting, stopping or changing medication.

Users must follow instructions provided by the prescribing clinician, pharmacist or other qualified healthcare professional.

Medication reminders are organisational aids only and must not be relied upon as the sole method of ensuring medicines are administered correctly or on time.

If a medication error, missed dose, suspected adverse reaction or overdose occurs, seek appropriate medical or pharmaceutical advice promptly.

6. Positioning, Mobility and Pressure Care

MARLISA may allow users to record repositioning activities, mobility information and pressure care routines, including reminders for people who spend extended periods in a bed, chair or wheelchair.

These functions are intended to help carers organise and document agreed care routines.

MARLISA does not assess pressure ulcer risk, determine appropriate repositioning intervals or provide individualised pressure care treatment plans.

The timing and method of repositioning should follow advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional and any relevant individual care plan.

Users must not rely solely on MARLISA reminders to determine when repositioning or assistance is required.

If there are concerns about skin integrity, pain, pressure damage, reduced mobility or a change in a person's condition, seek appropriate professional advice.

7. Changes in Health and Wellbeing

MARLISA may include features that help users record changes in a person's usual health, behaviour or wellbeing, including changes relating to urinary habits or symptoms.

Any prompts encouraging users to seek medical advice are general safety signposts rather than diagnoses, clinical assessments or personalised treatment recommendations.

MARLISA cannot determine whether a person has an infection, dehydration, pressure damage or any other medical condition.

Users should seek appropriate professional advice whenever they are concerned about a change in someone's health, even if MARLISA does not display a reminder or prompt.

8. Appointments, Notifications and Technical Limitations

MARLISA may provide reminders for appointments, medication routines, care activities and other everyday responsibilities.

Notifications and reminders may be delayed, interrupted or unavailable because of internet connectivity, device settings, permissions, software updates, technical faults or other circumstances.

Carers Companion Ltd cannot guarantee uninterrupted delivery of notifications.

Users remain responsible for maintaining suitable arrangements for important appointments, medication and essential care activities.

MARLISA should never be the only system used for time-critical or safety-critical care.

9. Family Sharing and Information Accuracy

MARLISA may allow authorised family members or carers to view or contribute to shared care information.

Information recorded by one user may be incomplete, inaccurate or outdated.

Users should verify important care information directly and communicate significant concerns to relevant family members, carers or healthcare professionals.

Family sharing is intended to support coordination and does not replace direct communication, professional handovers or formal care documentation where required.

10. Individual Care Needs

Every person's health, circumstances and care requirements are different.

General information and organisational features within MARLISA may not be appropriate for every situation.

Users should always consider the individual's needs and follow relevant professional advice and agreed care plans.

MARLISA does not replace the judgement, supervision or responsibilities of carers and healthcare professionals.

11. External Organisations and Information

MARLISA may contain links to third-party websites, healthcare resources, charities or support organisations.

These links are provided for general information and convenience.

Carers Companion Ltd does not control external services and cannot guarantee their accuracy, availability or suitability.

Users should verify important information directly with the relevant provider or appropriately qualified professional.

12. Limitation of Liability

MARLISA is provided as a general care organisation and support tool, subject to the applicable Terms and Conditions.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Carers Companion Ltd does not accept liability for loss or damage arising solely from reliance on information, reminders, prompts or user-generated records where such reliance is contrary to the limitations explained in this disclaimer.

Nothing in this Medical Disclaimer excludes or restricts liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

Nothing in this disclaimer affects consumers' statutory rights.

13. Updates to This Disclaimer

Carers Companion Ltd may update this Medical Disclaimer to reflect changes in MARLISA's features, services, operational arrangements or applicable legal requirements.

The latest version will be made available through the MARLISA app or the Carers Companion website.
